How Is Your Character Displayed? How Is Your Voice Heard?

Nowadays, everything is about money. The world makes a living off of trying to make a dollar off something of no real substantial value.

I was sitting here watching Vh1 and they just premiered "Yo: The Story of Yo! MTV Raps." Since I was born the year after Yo! MTV Raps first aired, I can't speak much on personal experience. But it was relieving to see how people, especially African Americans, were so enthusiastic about being heard by the media. We still have this enthusiasm, but it's directed negatively. (And we now care more about being seen than heard.)

Since this is my first blog post, I'll keep it simple and sweet. I just want everyone to think about the words that come out of your mouths and the actions that you perform. They both reflect your character at the end of the day. There is always someone watching you, following you and ready to use you as an example (positively or negatively). So since people love to express their feelings or "realness" over social media, be mindful of what your saying.

I'll end this with two forms of inspiration.

First, a quote from one of the most inspiring men to live, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
In most cases, his wish came true. Just make sure it's better to be judged by your character than the color of your skin.

Second, here's a video of the part of the final episode of Yo! MTV Raps. Dozens of Hip Hop legends came together to support something great. I hope it inspires you too.
